This whole thing can be cleared up with an audit!!! As I hear it, if money went from Auburn to Cecil, it went to Cecil's church as a contribution. All one need to do is audit the church books and see if there are some large installments from the same person totalling between 100k and 180k, and establish if that person is connected to Auburn. A simple comparison of contribution across years would do the trick, as in churches, the large donors are usually the same people every year. A single year donor would be someone worth scrutinizing. Such an exercise could move the issue beyond mere speculation and hearsay.

Actually, while it may be true that the FBI is investigating universities in general, an FBI spokesperson was just on TV saying that they are specifically investigating the Newtons and if they accepted money they could be charged with felony extortion and any phone calls/e-mails could be constituted as phone/mail fraud. This may end up affecting more than Cam, Cecil may be going to prison. Wouldn't that set an example and keep this shyte from happening elsewhere.

Still could be traced.... Really smart would be having a bank carry the note on the renovations to be paid in full in, say, 2012.... that way, if there is no smoke, the booster pays the bank... if there is some smoke, Cam just pays it off with his pro salary bonus. no harm, no foul.
