well i hate to compare BUT. Ole miss fired Cutcliff because he stood by his assistants too long. Now I'm not saying fire Miles... yet or even Pelini but you'd think they could recognize a pattern here. any coach would love to have the talent to work with that LSU enjoys. Looks like Miles could "talk" to his Def. cord. and get a new game plan going here. fix the leak in the boat so to speak. and maybe even get this game management problem addressed. Really the prom dance aint over but even if we have to stick with the same one we came in with, surely the music can change? I mean even RAY CHARLES can see the things that need work. soft defensive scheme QB ball handling/ inconsistancy too conservative on a lead.
Actually me too. I wonder after tonights game if Les feels any pressure at all or if everything is A-ok. Just crossed my mind!
agree and every thing ray charles saw last week was corrected in the first half this week. yet, coordinators always fall back to their tendencies which happened the 2nd half did they not? your fiance' will always be a whore at heart if she was beforehand, no? im in a foul mood.
The question is, do you think they fix the scheme? I think a few minor adjustments will be made but nothing that will make any of us stand up and say WOO HOOO!!
I dont know. I'd like to be a fly on the wall in SKip's office when some prominant TAF members call. Or in Les Miles office when he "talks" to Pelini. I do know this, the time frame for coaches to produce in Div 1A football is getting shorter and shorter. I mean hell even lefire: fires coaches over nothing and expects to win big or maybe it would be better put " has dillusions of granduer". So, while I think they'll be here for a while, I also think it would be prudent to get their act together. That line " the fans are dumb" doesnt work on athletic directors and TAF members for very long. Miles may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I say he will fix it or he'll sacrifice somebody at the end of the year. It's all about the money, and ALL of LSU knows the talent is there and would be a crime to waste.
too much henny penny. not many of you gave UT credit going into the season because of bad qb and secondary, and they show some execution and a lot of grit and they still get no credit. we didnt just lose--UT fought hard and made some plays. UT has a huge (and, yes, talented) OL. obviously our DL is not good enough to get to the qb straight up--this should not be surprising against a top 5 program. 4 against 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 should not get the qb much. pellini changed his gameplan after asu because he knew you have to rattle the qb. it worked and ainge was gone. it didnt work against clausen because he made good decisions and good passes. i'd guess we should press the wr more, but what do i know? especially with a lead late- if some wr gets behind a db in man coverage for a td many of you would be screaming bloody murder (this did happen several times, btw, just not for td---we did cover tight a lot) maybe im stating the obvious, but the qbs main job is to manage the O--be dependable. JR blew it big TWICE. the run at the end of the half and the INT near the end. it is rare you beat a top 10 team with those mistakes.
Your Kidding right? If that was tight coverage I'd hate to see what loose coverage was. How many passes did UT drop with no LSU defender in sight? They could easily have won by 3 tds and deserved to win the game. Yes, a lot of people gave them little credit because of their QB situation, you have got to remember that they didn't score a td in like 17 quarters or something like that, the announcers said during the game. Yes, this Tennessee team was good but they struggled against UAB. Please understand that I am saying they are a good team just like LSU supposed to be but they are struggling with an identity crisis. We should have won and didn't. LSU football as of today has an identity crisis just like the coaches. I'm not going to hold my breath and expect a miracle anytime soon that way I won't be disappointed if the ship can't be fixed. LSU football=a grain of salt now just like all LSU sports seems to be. Theres always next year, maybe.
I hear that Butch Davis is looking for a job. Just be careful, look at us to see what rotating coaches can do for you.
