I didn't want to get into a what did your team do type of argumet with them as this was not the nature of the conversation. All of them wished us well but they had some questions. I do agree with you though that put OSU, Michigan and others in the SEC weekly and I think they would find it hard to run the table. But the fact is they aren't in the SEC and for us to stay with them we have to win the tough games that are handed to us. I don't think us playing all of these paycheck schools is helping matters any either. B
I listened to the Tennessee OC, today, explain why no team is in the SEC is rushing the ball except Arkansas. He said the teams are loading the box daring you to beat them with the pass. Until JR can put some points on the board consistanly I doubt we are going to run the ball any better than the other SEC teams. A few long drives for scores will open up the running game. New Engalnd didn't need a running game last night.
Well, lets hope Les read that quote and decides not to force the run like his hard head has done all season in the big games. I still would not be surprised if he tries to pound the ball because, I get the feeling that he thinks you must run the ball first to open up the pass. It boggles my mind that he would still do this in big games when the run game is nowhere near a strength of ours. Our strength is the passing game and our WR's so use it to open up the running game. You know when Saban and Pelini came here we expected great defenses b/c they are superb in their defenses and their play calling except for a couple of games. Well shouldn't we expect our O-line to be better since that is Miles position? Why haven't they improved at all? Sure they are nicked up but they have shown nothing at any game. The pass protection is great but the run blocking should theoretically improve during the year, right?
I have never met any of these people before this wedding and reception and probably wil never meet them again, but who knows. We were just passing the time with some football talk. To tell you most all of them while the same as LSU fans think of there university, thought the most of UT. They didn't think the UT football team is all that after getting spanked by OSU and yes they admitted there schedule is not so hot especially with the conference being so weak. Then again some of them voiced they would like another crack at OSU because as they put it played them to early in the season and the UT team hadn't come together yet. B
