Can someone explain how the recruiting classes are ranked?

    There are a number of problems with recruiting rankings, the biggest two are these:

    Say school x has 30-35 committments at a 2.3 avg for a total of 66 at 30

    vs say school y with 14 committments at 3.3 avg for a total of 42

    This happen a couple of years ago when Miss St had 33 commitments and only signed 30.

    School x would be ahead in rankings....


    The other is a number of recruits are not going to make the grades, just like FSU 2001 class that was ranked number 1 after signing day, when they later lost the top 5 players in that class it would have put them around number 15 and LSU class would have been number 1.

    Another problem with recruiting is the numbers game:
    say school x signs 25 and has 60 on ships, not all the 25 will ever see the field of play and there will always be transfers and drop outs for any number of reasons.

    I have followed recruiting since 1976 and never count the recruits until fall.
