can someone explain the penalty on the extra point?

  1. Swerved

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Aside from that, it seems to me that Auburn would not have gotten the chance to kick that had they not called that fumble an incompletion... the reciever clearly had controll of it, and it was popped out. Daniels recovered it to me and looked to have one foot in bounds... Just terrible officiating if you ask me, but nothing new... Happens in the NCAA all the time, and this time we were on the receiving end of it.

Actually, from what I saw the defender landed on his head. And if that was the cause every guy that jumps straight up and falls down on an offensive linemen that is lying on the ground would be guilty as well. Don't get me wrong, but that is just the hazards of playing the game. The penalty that I know about says you can use another players body for leverage to attempt a block. Georgia has a good team, too. Just hope you guys can change your luck at the "World's Biggest Cocktail Party" (did I get that right).

All I can say is that everytime a player jumps like that (the majority of the time those guys don't even bother jumping on a PAT) they land on a guy on the other team. It is convienent of them to call it in this situation. If they had made the kick do you think the refs would've thrown a flag? Not a chance.

Good point. That guy jumped his ass off trying to block that kick. It was a great try on his part.

I never even saw a flag. Doesn't an official actually have to throw his flag to indicate a penalty?

The umpire is the one who made the personal foul call. He's not looking towards the goal post and had no idea whether the kick was good or not when he threw the flag.

Great game Tigers, you guys have a great team.

    Duh

They probably would have called it if he made it...the Nfl and NCAA are really trying to protect linemen.....You can CLEARLY see in the replay when he lands (8) he looks down like "oh ****" because he almost killed his guy.

And to all the above people talking about the fumble/INT....if you really believe that the defender HAD ANY SLIVER of control of that football you are out of you r mind. The replay from field level clearly shows him bobbling it 3 yard off the field.

    Bingo.

That's the most appalling part to me... watch the replay from the back view if anyone shows it again (it was on CBS after the game). The ref just stands there... he doesn't reach for and throw the flag until the extra point is missed. I've seen a lot of teams get hosed, but this was ridiculous.

Nice try, but there was no penalty called until about 20 seconds after the PAT was missed. The ump would've had to been deaf, blind, and dumb to not have realized that the PAT was missed, but then again apparently he was deaf, blind, and dumb.
