The same thing happens every year, just usually without the scare tactics. LSU is state funded, the legislature has to approve money to fund it every year. Yes there is a budget problem. No LSU will not be closing down, typical far left scare tactic to soften the blow of higher taxes.
I'm no Jindal fan, but without those cuts he pushed for the debt would be that much bigger. The problem is twofold... The state constitution is a broken mess and we are too dependent on oil.
The biggest problems are waste and corruption. Oil money is a luxury many states don't have. However revenue from oil is not constant, it fluctuates with supply and demand. If you stop the waste and corruption the state can survive during down turns in oil prices. When oil prices are high government officials shouldn't spend money like they just won the lottery.
Bama ready for Fournette to transfer https://bamahammer.com/2016/02/12/leonard-fournette-should-transfer-to-alabama/ New Democrat making Louisiana look really bad. The gump is wrong though. If there are no classes & no football team, he would not have to sit out a year, as the scholarship would be voided. immediately by the NCAA. And not just Fournette.
