As an LSU diehard I'm sicken by some of my friends and fellow LSU supporters. We are all pointing fingers at this busted coverage at the end of the game. Yeah, there was a busted coverage but let's review some things... -2 blocked punts...One for TD -countless sacks...(6)! -If their last pass was lucky than it was No more lucky than our 74 yrd scamper for TD with :32 in 2nd! -Russell basically knocked out due to Iowa's smash mouth football -Little to no offense especially our heralded run game (a measly 118 combined !) -Our speed, what speed, their receivers destroyed our DBs first play of the game, middle of game, and the final play of the game! -They knocked out nearly all our receivers for at least a set of plays -TATE, TATE, TATE, need I say more. -Their 5th string running back (a walk-on) actually got yards -etc.............................................................................. - WE had MOMENTS of greatness and fought back, just TOO MANY MISTAKES. I'm sad that we lost but let's not be like Florida last year who made A$$es of themselves when they got kicked in the mouth by Iowa. We didn't come prepared-----special teams were ridiculous. Hey, SABAN, at some point blown coverages is simply lack of ability to play. Isn't every score somewhat marked as a blown coverage? The first play of the game the last play of the game, the 6 sacks, the worthless running game, the 2 BLOCKed punts...... At some point we need to give credit where credit is DUE. It was a great game, 2 great teams, we did our best, but I sadly say the best team won----AND guys IOWA IS REAL they are the ONLY team besides OKLAHOMA, USC and GEORGIA to finish the year in the TOP 10 the last 3 years!----we were fortunate not to be blown out, thank god they didn't have ANY of their RUNNING Backs. WE have nothing to be ashamed of we won the national championship, we had a successful year, one of the best coaches in the country, and a program that will continue a tradition for years to come------LETS not spoil it with petty and immature comments/excuses of our bowl loss-----LOSE WITH PRIDE! LSU ALL THE WAY BABY:lsug:
Interesting response. I think I mentioned in my intro. I was having a difficult time dealing with some LSU fans; Hence your original post! :hihi: I've been a fan decades longer than you--- that I guarantee, but does that matter, no. I've been through the good and the bad, I know thrilling game-endings (nothing matches Eddie Fuller ok.) I know tiger ball. I don't think I said or posted anything inflammatory that wasn't obvious on the field or in the stats! Please take care and in the future post something more intelligent or constructive. :thumb: regards, LSU#1
Iowa played better for longer, however either team would have deserved that win. And you are without a doubt an Iowa fan incognito.
