I work in lafayette every other week and listen to 1420 and everyday the die hard lsu backwards homers tryto actually make comparisions in the programs which is about as funny as a Johnny carson monologue. They refer to themselves as Louisiana and we as the red head step child school "state". I would rather play middle tenn. tech than send one dime to the school that a blanco once attended.
I quit tuning in to 1420 in the afternoon because the host, Jay something, has a superiority complex that just gnaws at me. He graduated from LSU and, to be honest, is fair to the Tigers, despite the Ragin Idiots that populate his regular callers, but his attitude is just a little too high and mighty for my taste.
I had no idea that this clown graduated from college, much less from LSU. He's got the Don Allen disease of "i'm better than everyone". I have no idea why he thinks this way...he's bald!! He will NOT answer any hypothetical question. example--Caller "Who do you think the Saints would choose IF they had the #1 overall pick. I'll hang up and listen." Don Allen...I mean, Jay Walker "Well, the Saints DON'T have the #1 pick, so I don't see what would be the point of thinking about that." Somehow, I think this superiority complex comes from being the "voice of the cajuns"
Back to the topic at hand.... ....You don't want to play an in-state 1-AA for their charity or to prove some superiority over them. Fine. Then schedule Northwestern State or McNeese State instead of Appalachian State out of nothing more than greed. McNeese State brings real fans. The game would be a sellout. NSU, not as many, but it would be a well-attended game, and they would bring some fans and some additional interest. When we play App. St., even if we are #1 and undefeated, there will be at least 5,000 empty seats, and everyone knows it. Skip started scheduling the in-state 1-As to increase ticket sales and bring in some additional money. And they have delivered. The other 1-AAs might complain. Let them. The ADs know the drill; this game is only on the schedule because cancellations forced the move and we couldn't find a 1-A opponent. Heck, let's even be fair about it; put the six 1-AA schools names in a hat; Skip can just draw a random name out, and that's who we'll play. Don't make this about more than it is, or get politics and power involved. Look at it as simply business fellas.
No way, no how. I've watched both of those teams (SLU, and NSU) play. They're not any better than App State, but are definately no worse. IMO, playing App State is JUST as bad as playing SLU, NSU, or ANY 1AA school.
LSU went with hand that was dealt; no D1-A team was willing to BR for a one game pay check. Appalachian State is a better squad than Southeastern. I was suprised Tulane didn't jump at the chance to visit Tiger Stadium. Oh, wait, never mind! Tulane had their SLU game scheduled WAY in advance of LSU's opening.
