I had a feeling I was misspelling superstitious. o: That c just didn't look right to me. I am mortified. I used to pride myself on next to perfect spelling. Oh well. So much for perfection.
Someone should start a poll to see if the official ND thread should stay or go. We should just delete it and everything will be fine. :hihi:
Ahh.....yeah.....delete the polls huh........bet ya wouldn't won't to delete a links though......huh. :hihi: :thumb:
While it is true that when the media and fans "talk up or down" a team like they are doing in this particular situation it doesn't necssarily have an effect on the game from a physical standpoint so to speak ie. we're not out there on the field so we can't change the game from that angle, but I think there is a validity to the point, and it not a complete stretch, that the media and fans definatly CAN have a phsycological factor into how a team plays both negatively and positivily. While this is not our problem or cannot be proven with blatent facts, I think we would all agree that sports history has proven over the years that a team that let's media coverage "get to their heads" can have serious consequences on the outcome of the game. Most recently, a terrific example I believe was last years sugar bowl. For over a month everybody heard the banter about how West Virginia was in the Big East and if it was even a valid BCS conference and almost everyone with a few exceptions touted the game as a eventual blowout by Georgia who would be playing a virtual home game in ATL. By the time the game actually began, it seemed like a forgone conclusion by everybody and maybe this got into the Georgia players heads and conversely with complete opposite reactions by the W. virginia players, as the first half was totally dominated by a W. Virginia team that seemed to be playing with a purpose and something to prove while Georgia seemed to be going through the motions. By the end of the game, Georgia mounted a comeback that fell just short and I still feel confident that if there was a 5th quarter in that game Georgia would probably have one by 10 points. I still feel like Georgia was a much better team and would probaly have won 8 out of 10 games they played. The point is that is almost the same sentiment by the media and the fans is being heard for this years sugar bowl. One can only hope the players completly block out this and remember as recently as last years game as a lesson learned as to what can happen if one believes such hype and if you let it get to ur psyche and mentality it can literrally effect your play on the field and spell disasturous outcome. LSU!
i started celebrating the monent i heard notre dame was the opponent. there is no question lsu will crush them. these two teams are not well matched at all, lsu is a wildly superior team and they will win very easily. you are wasting valuable celebration time and needlessly restricting yourself.
Weis is AMAZING!!! You mean he actually knows about the individual players on our squad??!! Must have been his NFL experience that taught him to actually look at film and figure what his opponents strengths and weaknesses are, because I'm sure our staff hasn't been looking at any film of ND. They probably haven't thought of that yet! Hopefully one day we can get a good coach. This loser we have now probably doesn't know how to prepare for a bowl game...wait...40-3? That was probably an abberation.:thumb: Just beginner's luck. After all, we have the worst coach in the SEC according to a bunch of the posters on this site.
I've never disagreed with an opinion and still laughed so much. That was funny but I agree with his premise, let's not overlook them and come to play! :thumb:
haha thanks red, I'm sitting here totally numb at work cause nobodies been in all day so I'm tottally bored out of my mind and I kinda went on a rant there. hopefully the point somewhat got accross?
