FSU will have a good year, but once again, most of these pundits are picking teams based on how they will fare with the schedules they have as opposed to how good they are. FSU would likely end up in 3rd place on either side of the SEC.
You are correct. SOS was an official part of the BCS formula. Now, your overall SOS isn't calculated in (some of the computer polls take it into consideration) . Neither are quality wins. Also, the human polls weigh in a lot heavier than they did before. Basically, they looked at all the things that kept USC out of the MNC game in '03, and changed it. Which may have cost Auburn a shot at the title in '04.
I've never heard that cliche' before, but if you say so... P.S. Does that mean our mighty Tigers are in trouble this year?
the only reason LSU played in the BCS in 2003 was because everyone else had a lost....so if 2 or three teams woulda gone undefeated that year...we wouldnt have been in it...:thumb:
I'll break it down for you though. Texas loses to tOSU (12-0) tomorrow USC loses to lets just say Oregon (10-2) on Nov. 11 LSU loses to Georgia (10-2) in SEC CG Texas will drop after losing to Ohio St. not sre how far though. They may not fall past us @ 8 if it's a close game. That would put USC ahead of Texas. LSU would most likely stay behind these 2 until Nov. 11 when USC loses. Texas would most likely reclaim the #2 spot and LSU would be 3rd, followed by USC. LSU losing last, would hurt their chances, because they would probably fall behind USC. That's in the human polls (2/3 of the equation). Depending on how close the computers have these 3 ranked, Texas would probably get in, unless they somehow are #4 with USC #1, tOSU #2 and LSU #3. that would probably put USC in the title game. LSU losing in SEC CG would all but eliminate them from participating.
Food for thought... The Big Ten, PAC-10, Big Easy, nor ND (for what it's worth) do not have conference championship games to deal with. The Big 12, SEC, and ACC do. It is a choice each conference made. Therefore, if you are "penalized" because someone gets "upset" in your CCG, then you have penalized yourself. It's the risk your conference made when they made the "we need more revenue" decision. That said, should a team that loses its conference championship game (ala Oklahoma) be picked to play in the NCG.... never, imo. Do I wish it was uniform by conference, with the winners advancing in some playoff system? ...yes indeed. But selecting a certain league format, then complaining that you might penalized by it, is a "headscratcher" for sure.:yelwink2:
hawker, didnt you say earlier in the week that yall were playing a bad Syracuse team. Im not sure what to take from that game but what a unbelivable goal line stand the last 2 minutes of the game.
