The only person you have made look like an idiot is yourself by making statements when you have no clue. Why do you keep mentioning Russell making or not making the call he is not the punter and did not throw the fake? The call would come from the sideline or from the punter when he saw something from the line of scrimmage, Russell would not even be in the loop. How old are you? I'm guessing in your early teens.
Why don't we wait & hear it from the coach. All of you people are speculating, and so is the media. Nobody really knows.
Okay, it's way late for as early as I have to get up tomorrow, but I'll take time to say this. First off, as far as my mentioning Russell, I reserve the right for any post I make during the day to have potential scattered thoughts b/c most of the time it takes at least one or two minimizings of the screen as the boss walks by my cube, and sometimes it takes a while to get back to finishing a post. This happens on occasion, such as last year when I repeatedly posted referring to the Rose Bowl as the NC game instead of the Orange. It happens. Obviously I meant Jackson and Prude, the two involved. I didn't realize that Jackson punted any time other than the fake...so even when watching the game I had the impression that he'd been purposely used for the fake, so I was under the impression that it was Miles' call. I did hear speculation today that perhaps they have a standing option to do that when the gunner is not covered, but still I have trouble believing Jackson would choose to do that out of the endzone without getting approval. I could be wrong, but if I am, Jackson has bigger cahonas than I'll ever have. Now maybe it's my incredibly tired state that's making me feel so passive, but I'm usually a pretty passive, non confrontational guy anyway, so I'm thinking it's not. Either way, TwistedTiger, I propose a truce. I don't like getting into insulting matches with other Tiger fans, with the exception of Ramah, whom I greatly enjoyed calling a dumb@$$. I still think your description of Keller as an "average QB at best" is totally off, but you're entitled to that opinion. I just think he deserves more credit than that. I know our secondary was way too soft and did him many favors, but I think he also played a great game. Regardless though, I prefer to avoid the insulting matches, so from this poing on as far as I'm concerned, any anomosity is dead. And lastly, unfortunately I'm not in my early teens. Perhaps I should take that as a compliment, as I haven't been mistaken for someone in my teens in many years. I wouldn't mind going back to some of those years... but alas, I'm 29. I'm an LSU alumnus with a double major in history and political science. And unfortunately I have to get up in a few hours for work, so I'm going to bed.
Did anyone notice Miles chewing out that guy on the sideline after the fake? It was pretty obvious he didn't have any desire for a fake to be called.
Calling plays in certain situations has a lot to do with the emotions of players, on both sides of the ball. Usually, it's a vote of confidence of some sort, whether to an entire offence or defence or to particular players (eg receivers, linemen, etc). (edited for incorrect assumptions)
