Can't wait to see Skyler and Shyrone do their thing this year. Getting good vibes from both of them.

don't know about the others, but I think Flynn reads D's great...

Perrilloux reads them well for a freshman

Surely he couldn't be any worse catching the ball as Michael Lewis....Could he?

No stats given, but here is the article from The Advocate ....

The Tigers scrimmaged for about 110 plays, according to an LSU news release. Members of the media were not allowed to attend the scrimmage and no statistics were provided.

Miles said the first-teamers went at it for 32 live snaps, with 26 for the second team. The remaining snaps were divided between the third team and special teams, he said.

Sophomores JaMarcus Russell and Matt Flynn worked with the No. 1 offense, while freshman Ryan Perrilloux worked with the Nos. 2 and 3 units.

The No. 1 offensive line operated without senior center Rudy Niswanger, out since spraining his shoulder Friday in a team drill.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Miller worked with the No. 1s in Niswanger's place.

"He basically worked with the first team all day and appeared to do a pretty good job," Miles said.

Watching from the sideline, Niswanger said he thought the scrimmage went well.

"There were some situations we did really well on," said Niswanger, who expects to return for a scrimmage Tuesday. "Two minute, gained a lot of yards. Red zone. We struggled a little bit with goal line."

To help shore up its goal-line and short-yardage rushing offense in the absence of Alley Broussard, out for the season with a knee injury, LSU has been running fullbacks Steve Korte and Jacob Hester at tailback.

"Both guys are getting more carries," Miles said. "I don't think it's looking for an Alley Broussard."

Miles said the Tigers sustained no new major injuries Saturday.

A little more from the scrimage

He also stated that he is in no rush to name a starter at any of the positions where there is stiff competition, they will look at film from the scrimages, with one to go on Tuesday, and then evaluate who should be starting.

Re: A little more from the scrimage

Les is in no rush to tell the competition anything about this team. The competiton has no film of a Les Miles LSU team. They have an idea about Jimbo's offense, but none about Pellini's defense. I doubt if we learn the starting lineup before thursday before the game.

Re: A little more from the scrimage

One thing that I noticed in watching what brief segments of the passing drills that ESPN aired Friday was Jamarcus' ball placement. What separates good QBs from great QBs is the ability to place the pass in a spot where a reciever need not extend himself or break his stride to make the catch. JR seemed to be doing exactly that. The recievers eye and hand levels did not have to change in order to make the reception, thus enabling their ability to run after the catch.
