Sorry VBall...but I'm not impressed with Nebraska on the road. I'm not saying WE play anyone more impressive...but Nebraska isn't impressive to me. I was allowing for the fact that we get VT at home and you get NEB on the road when I considered it a wash. VT>NEB. Our SOS comes from within our conference. This year, we are fortunate to have our tough opponents at home for the most part. Every other year, that changes. Your toughest game this year should be Cal...not Nebraska.
Both teams were picked to win their conference by many analysts....VT is very questionable right now for sure.
And again...I was being facetious with the thread title...thus the  in my first post. VBALL, explain "facetious" to them please.:hihi:
Lets leave the "my conference is better than yours" discussion alone for a sec. Nebraska is a top 20 team who throroughly owned Nevada yesterday. Marlon Lucky had 233 yards rushing as part of their 625 yards of TO! The rushing output was the most since the Huskers ran for 444 against McNeese State in 2002. The total yards were the most since Nebraska racked up 688 against Baylor in 2001. I don't know about you but considering some of the rather average performances around the country yesterday, that looks pretty impressive to me. Add to that, SC's pass rush against Idaho was almost non-existent. Sam Keller is NOT a true freshman. And while I understand that nothing compares to Death Valley, Nebraska is a tough road venue and their fans are VERY aware of it. VaTech OTOH probably did more to disappoint than to impress in their first outing. You can't tell me that Tiger Nation didn't feel a bit relieved after watching them. In my mind, it's hardly a "wash". Cal looked better than I anticipated but they did allow 31 points which tells me they have work to do on the D side of the ball. kal is a hated rival, we play them up in bezerkeley, Longshore put up 241 and Mesean is a threat any time he has the ball. I'll wait to see how their next few games go but it could very well be one of the toughest for us this year.
Technically, I believe we should wait a few games to determine how good ALL of these teams are...but my evaluation of VT/Nebraska is from last season...the one before that...the one before that...etc...that's all I have to go on. I won't deny at all that yesterday's VT game made me feel more confident, though. But I refuse to view that game as an indication as to how tough VT is...just like I won't use our game against MSU to determine our strength. Nebraska owned NEVADA...not impressed. And you brought up SC, which I was trying to stay off that subject. All I'll say is this...I never said I thought USC was all that, anyway. All I said is that they don't have a terrible OOC schedule...including Idaho, and Nebraska. I still feel that way...nothing has changed my opinion...of either USC's schedule...or their prowess.
By the way...the reason I think USC's toughest game is Cal is because of the fact that they didn't get any pressure to speak of against IDAHO. I think the Cal game will be a shootout.
And one more thing. I started this thread as a joke, really. I didn't transform it to a "our conference is better than yours". Someone took my thread a little too seriously, and said that the PAC-10 had to schedule tougher OOC games because their conference is weaker. All I did was challenge the notion that Pac-10 teams...specifically USC...have tougher OOC schedules than us.
