At least he stays home for the road games but Bill Franques is really not a baseball analyst either. Thompson must has submitted the lowest bid for the job.
thompson aint great but it doesnt change the fact that blair is a hired gun and it shows and makes for a generic broadcast. he does sound just like hawthorne when he does the tigers win thing for better or worse. i want ben mcdonald somewhere doing our games. radio, tv, something. smart, subtle insight without being a know it all. thats a hard thing to do.
I think McDonald has a job with some other network. Only way he does our games is if we make the CWS and he is on the TV broadcast
Totally agree. I want to be Ben McDonald’s neighbor and have bar-b-que's all the time. BFF's if at all possible and that all from just listening to the cat call a Tiger game. You gotta believe he must have been in the mix for consideration, so something kept him from accepting it. He is certainly destined to call a lot of ball games, so his future must be brighter calling for the network.
Believe so. I have listened to him call other SEC and OOC games through ESPN 2, so he is a busy dude for the network.
He could be calling NFL or high school football, a network morning talk show or top 40 rock and it would all sound the same. He needs a personality.
