I have to agree with that statement. That Police Cheif there is Sterlington takes his job seriously, and he does tend to charge people with every offence that he can. I doubt there was any intent to distribute there with that small amount. Especially when he had plenty of money at his disposal

I totally disagree with you. The drug laws are on the books for good, sound reasons. Unlike alcohol, Marijuana is a drug that cannot be used without abusing it. One drink does not make a person intoxicated, but one marijuana cigarette distorts perception. We have enough problems with Alcohol abuse. I don't see any reason to add to the problem by adding Marijuana to the list of approved drugs. In addition, while Marijuana use does not make a person go to the harder drugs, it does often make them WANT to try harder drugs. That is why cocaine pushers also sell Marijuana - because they know once kids get onto Marijuana it is likely they will "graduate" to more dangerous drugs. In a society that is becoming more and more "smoke-free", the same people that are against smoking as a health hazard, often are the same ones that want to legalize Marijuana when Marijuana is clearly more dangerous than regular cigarettes. It makes no sense. Marijuana should continue to be defined as a controlled dangerous substance.

It'll depend on whether or not the NFL teams believe he was dealing. I agree that most teams will probably not hold it against him too much if it was his weed for personal consumption.

But if he is dealing, that'll be a different outcome for Wroten. Having the large amount of cash on him worries me. I hope he can account for that.

I would have to disagree. There is an entire thread in FSA on marijuana if you'd like to have further discussion about it.

The assumption is that possession of so many grams indicates that the person does not intend to smoke it all himself, but plans to sell some of it. Wroten had 24 grams (two bags) - plenty enough to make that assumption. Often users will sell a drug in order to pay for their own drug use.

When you made statements pointing out that alot of athletes smoke, it came across (to me anyway) as if you were making excuses for Wroten.

Sorry CParso, I did not intend to misquote you, but sometimes the tone of a statement can carry more weight and leave a deeper impression than the actual words. I understand what you are saying.

Which I understood some would take it as. That is why I made sure to include that I was not defending his actions. Yet no one seems to notice that part.

But it's very possible he had no intention to sell it. 24 grams is not so much as to believe he couldn't have used it soley for personal consumption. It would be different if his whole trunk was filled or something, but 2 baggies is just a weekend for some people.

They will not let anyone go if they are involved in distribution of drugs. They may let them go if it is just simple possession (I mayself, patrolling with my brother who was on the BR force, saw him let guys go if they did not have much on them - after getting rid of the marijuana).
