This reminds me of the time I was in line at a hospital cafe and an employee paid with a fake 20. The cashier apologized (it was obvious the employee was a regular there for coffee/muffin) but said she had to call security as they'd been getting a lot of fake bills lately. The employee was like, "I got this 20 from here yesterday!" I will certainly rest a little better when more information about the RP situation comes out. It sounds as though we may have dodged a bit of a bullet there.
BATON ROUGE - LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is just one of a dozen or more than has been interviewed by federal authorities in a probe of a suspected couterfeiting ring in the La Place area. “They’re picking up people for questioning here and there every day,” said St. John Parish Sheriff’s office spokesman Mike Tregre on Friday. “Ryan is not the only one who has been interviewed. And there will be more to come. The investigation is ongoing.” The St. John’s Parish Sheriff’s office and the U.S. Secret Service are working together on the investigation. Tregre estimated that more than 12 had been interviewed already. Perrilloux is from La Place, which is 25 miles west of New Orleans. He became a household name in the area for his stellar play at East St. John High School. LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said no other LSU athletes are involved in the federal investigation. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070112/SPORTS0202/70112022/1001/SPORTS
I love conspiracy theories, the wilder the better. This one is so far out there even I don't believe it. Just an example of how crazy some of this stuff is getting: Taken from an e-mail floating around on the intertron, re Ryan Perriloux: "Sometime before the Sugar Bowl someone gave him a duffel bag of cash in exchange for some LSU autographed stuff and game tickets. He spent the cash in New Orleans . Turns out it was all counterfeit. Feds picked him over the weekend and he is cooperating with them. Nothing is being released until later this week, but the Feds are now in Bama talking to a Bama booster who's car RP identified as being in BR when he was given the cash. The Bama booster had paid for dinner using a credit card in Birmingham in a hotel that Nick Saban was staying at 2 nights before the meeting with RP took place. The Feds plan to make an arrest in Mobile later this week and RP's involvement will come out at that time. Both LSU and Bama are being investigated as to what other players at LSU know about the deal, who else may have been involved, as well as the ties the Mobile guy has with both Bama and Nick Saban. RP is currently in Birmingham with the Feds, and all announcements from them will come from there. LSU is waiting as long as it can to comment. Louisiana media have sworn to make no comment until after the feds make theirs. The NCAA is in Baton Rouge and there is talk about forfeiting the ND Sugar Bowl game despite Perriloux not playing. Evidently Jimbo Fisher told a few people bits and pieces about what happened before he left town, and is part of the reason why he took the $215,000 pay cut to leave."
Conspiracy!! I smell a conspiracy I tell ya! I'll bet you lil' Nicki was behind the allegations!:hihi:
Charlie Weis is also being investigated. There's some talk that the only way ND would pay that much money for a coach is if the cash is counterfeit. ND Boosters are curiously pleased that no games against ranked teams will need to be forfeited.
Maybe they found Billy Cannon's old stash of bills and figured they could make some real money (hehehe) Just kiddin :hihi: B
