Chris Rix had all kinds of problems with traffics tickets and warrants and the guy played 4 years. Now that its in the open, RP will have to take care of his business off the field so that he can concentrate on his bidness on the field. If its only traffic related, he can get it worked out. But it is definitely a lesson learned for this young man.

Investigation
I am sorry to have to begin this post with an apology to whomever I might offend on this board but it is overwhelmingly obvious that many more LSU fans want to know the truth than rumor and deserve an explanation. I am not passing on gossip, but rather trying to squelch it and end it here with basic facts.

Indeed, many of you will think this post is not even worth reading after all the fuss. And it is not titilating at all. The truth is rarely as exciting as the rumors. That is what I've been trying to get across in my previous posts.

Earlier today there was a "rumor" of an ongoing federal investigation "involving" an LSU player of note. I do not know the source and how it hit the Internet. But similar information became available that was not Internet based.

Upon hearing these rumors, a check of various facts found unusual roadblocks and obstacles at every point. A lot of closed mouths. The trail eventually wound up at the federal courthouse because the "rumors" involved alleged charges ranging from credit card/ID theft to possession of counterfeit bills. Serious stuff; just checking it out. Not traffic tickets, either.

Poised to dismiss the whole thing as rumor, it was learned federal officials had "sealed" the records about the person of interest and about the persistent rumors. The red flag then went up. It was an ackowledgment that something was up, else they would have dismissed it -- and would probably have been eager to blow it off.

Something, some type of investigation is going on. The person of interest may indeed just be a witness, or indeed, a victim. No one knows for sure because of the sealed record and lips.

But the silence is deafening, and the tone is solemn.

We will not read about it in any papers tomorrow because the feds move at their own pace. And the local newspaper will not print rumor, but neither is it ignorant of the gossip, and its gravity and consequences.

I hope this has been written in an acceptable fashion, so as not to "smear" anyone's name. But if there is truth that resembles the rumors, then that person needs to be held accountable.

Hopefully, this will play itself out quickly, and before JR makes his final decision on whether to go pro.

The only other charge this could carry is a failure to appear in court. Assuming he never appeared for the court date of the traffic tickets. I had this happen to me before. Back in 98' I was in an accident with a friend and the DA was supposed to drop a traffic charge. This was never done and I went to pay a speeding ticket in 04' and was arrested for FTA and failure to pay the fine back in 98'. I hope Baton Rouge police have more to worry about than RP not paying traffic tickets. It's what CLM decides to do that he needs to worry about.

Lesson to be learned from this: take care of your business. Don't assume someone else will do it for you. As a retired probation/parole officer I can't tell you how many times I have seen people go to jail because they assumed someone else would handle their business for them. It may be the responsibility of the DA to drop the charge, but it is the defendant's to make sure that was done.
