    Lesson to be learned from this: take care of your business. Don't assume someone else will do it for you. As a retired probation/parole officer I can't tell you how many times I have seen people go to jail because they assumed someone else would handle their business for them. It may be the responsibility of the DA to drop the charge, but it is the defendant's to make sure that was done.
