    Thats quite the statement coming from The Guardian. They are England's equivalent of MSNBC.

    peer review certainly isnt perfect but its the best we have. generally, authors can exclude certain competing scientists from refereeing. but its tricky because of course you want experts in the particular field to review the work so there is often competion.

    the review process should be double-blind, that is, the authors and the reviewers should not know each other. currrently the reviewers know who the authors are.
