or crap, hire the head coach as our hitting coach. They remind me of how LSU used to hit in the 90's, except it was home runs then.
SB is using the same bats, playing in the same heat, in front of the same 11K LSU fans. Agree with the SB hitting coach hire!!! LSU softball could use a hitting coach too!!!
It is the hitting approach. Watch how disciplined the SB hitters are and how well they control the bat. Many choke up not only at 2 strikes but all through the AB. HRs don't happen as much good hitting needs control not over swinging.
The dismal hitting stats for the Super Regional SHOULD raise some serious questions about LSU's hitting coach. Manieri should take note of this. SB's hitting deserves a lot of credit. It is an embarrassing contrast.
I think they handle UCLA but the way FSU is absolutely pummeling Stanford I don't think SB will see the PATHETIC hitting they saw by LSU in BR. So much for "our house", the heat, nightime etc etc........
Mainieri really hasn't done much in his 6 years. One CWS championship is great, but we haven't come CLOSE the other five. He may have been a good Air Force coach, but he hasn't shown me he can win it all. The entire season had too many one run W's, we blow the SEC tourney, struggle w/ Oregon State in the Regionals, and get blown out by an un-ranked team who showed us how to really play baseball. There were so many weaknesses that they overshadowed some strengths. Too bad, but Mainieri will be back and no more successful!!
