Per Bobby Hebert, apparently Orgeron called him personally to let him know that the Kiffins flew down to meet him in Florida and wouldn't leave until he agreed to go to Tennessee.

This is on the other thread, but it deserves its own.

IMO, not a huge loss for LSU. I would've loved to have seen him recruiting for us but we can get just as good of a DL coach - it will be especially important now to make sure some of the new coaches we hire are also great recruiters.

Score another one for Mike S. right? :hihi:

Jerry Rice to LSU. Why do I pay for his info again?

Haley is every bit as good as O btw, hes a great NFL DL coach, was all-pro when he played, has relationship with Chavis. Its just his recruiting ability is unknown. We really need someone like O on the defensive side, we have literally no great defensive recruiters right now. Lane and Mallory are gone, which leaves Chavis, who isn't a good recruiter.

    It was on the radio.

DCs are not typically "recruiters" - they only help seal the deal.

Orgeron had agreed to come to LSU - he just changed his mind.

And nothing is official yet, so something could change, but I doubt it.

Its not official yet, it could be where hes using Tennessee to get more money out of LSU. Maybe he told Hebert, his friend that, to get LSU to up the ante. Either way his pay is getting ridiculous. We're not going to be able to afford a decent DB coach if this keeps going on. Its nearing, what, 1 million? That is ridiculous for a position coach, don't care how much he recruits.

I'm thinking it is the other way around, and he was using LSU to get more money from UT.

I thought UT was the best move for his career. Monte Kiffin won't be there very long, and O will certainly be on the short list as his replacement.

    I am disappointed though.
