Tubberville deserves all the votes he can get for Coach of the yeat in my opinion. He lead Auburn to an undefeated season after the most extenuating situation imaginable, he brought together a team that had failed miserably in their own minds as well as those of their administration, fans and the media. He looked at the weaknesses of last year's team and made the move to bring in a great OC, his defense lost most of their front 7 including a few great players and they were actually better this year, although some of that can be attributed to a much better offense.

He beat the defending national champs in the biggest game they had played in years, he demolished Tenn. twice and he beat UGA in another super big game. I really don't think all of you guys can say the SEC is the best conference and than dismiss the job Tubby did this year, I thought he was sensational.

the difference in this season was not tubberville, it was jason campbell. the talented backfield never got used to its fullest potential b/c they were very one-dimensional. once the passing game got respect, it opened things up a bit. now, maybe you can credit him w/ bringing in the new OC, which, in turn, made campbell better. but i can't exactly point to this years success solely as the result of a great coach.

JMO, but if Tubs gets the criticism when the team performs poorly, as he deserved last season, then he certainly is deserving of accolades when the team succeeeds.

That being said, I'd like to believe this wasn't posted as a "gloat" thread. :dis:

So what's to gloat about? 12-0, an SEC title, and yet you're STILL on the outside looking in. You're really no better off than we are.

12-0 vs 9-2 with a head to head win thrown in, I'd say they are a little better off than we are.

You can never point to success as solely the result of a great coaching job, because if a team didn't have a myriad of reasons for a having a great season than they wouldn't have had one. You can't say LSU had a great season in 2003 solely because of Nick Saban but he several coach of the year awards. I'd say we won it last due to Muack, Clayton, Lavalias, Addai, Vincent, Hill, Peterman, Reed, Devery, Laron, Lionel, Rufus, Corey, etc., etc, etc.

    Gotta' plug KF!

I am certainly not trying to raise any hackles, but i have to place a word here for Kirk Ferentz. (I know, I'm a homer, but hear me out)
Iowa lost, at one time during the season, 5 tailbacks, as in none of them playing. At the Minnesota game the Hawks took the field with a true freshman (Simms) and a walk-on former scout-teamer (Brownlee) who had began the season as, a walk-on practice squader.
I know everyone has injuries, but to start a Soph. at QB and then lose your first three tailbacks 2 games into the season, only to have one after another drop out until you are left with Sam Brownlee?
Then throw in the buzz-saw of the ASU game and having to begin the Big Ten at Mich., well, I just think that from 2-2, 9-2 with a share of the Big ten Title was an absolutely increadible job by the man.
Again, I am not looking to incite anything, I just have to stump for the man and the job he has done!

Mike Price deserves consideration also. What he has done with the miners has been nothing short of astounding. Good for him - he's been punished enough. :thumb:
