It was definitely Les Miles-like. I can appreciate that.

i was confused and pretty pissed off that we didnt defer to open the game.

then I thought about it after the onside kick this crazy bastard planned it all along regardless the situation.

he was thinking we will get the ball at the start of each half.

i was listening to the brees interview on cowherd. he said that the kick had been practiced for two weeks and they had been told all along that it was not a matter of if it would be used, because it would. it was just a matter of when. and he wanted to use it when it would be least expected.

i'd say that plan worked out pretty well.

i honestly believe Payton had no choice. To me if the Colts get the ball and score out of halftime, its ball game. But that kick (which hank baskett botched, take that Kendra, dumb ho) pretty much forced the Colts to change their entire gameplan, and nullified the coin toss.

It came up at my house last night, but was followed by "well, the Les Miles from then" and pointed to the 2007 BCS poster on the wall.

He actually told the team before the game started that he was going to do it at some point either in the 2nd quarter of to start the 2nd half.

At halftime, he told his kicker and special teams to be ready as well as the offense.

He did confer with Gregg Williams to hear his thoughts and Gregg told him he has his back and that the defense would hold up their end if the kick did not succeed.
