Those may be great, but there are two main reasons we say this- those two I listed. I'm in agreeance with those that argue that Auburnt is better than USC, for the record.
Of course comparing common opponent games is an indicator on who is the better team and who would probably win. It's just no guarantee. Rankings are largly based on it, along with tradition, hype, etc. I guarantee you that if the scores were reversed ESPN would have been trumpeting that fact. I can imagine it would be something like..... "SEC dominance," Lee Corso dismisses his own words with a wave of his hand. "Exactly," Herb Herbstreit nearly shouts, making Lee flinch back. Then in an enthusiastic rush he adds, "Come on, LSU struggled to beat Arizona, and Washington St. was driving to win the game against Auburn but ran out of clock. While on the other hand, USC completely destroyed both 'Zona and WAZZU." "It's different leagues. No comparison." "USC is the greatest college team ever." "I love USC!" "I love USC with all my heart!!!" "Not so fast my friend, i've been loving USC since before you were born. Don't go insinuating you love USC more than-- Herb rares back and slugs Corso, and then Herb rips open his own shirt, revealing a gigantic USC Trojan tattoo on his chest. Quickly regaining his senses, Lee grabs a metal chair and slams it down on Herb's head, instantly crumpling Herb to the floor in a pool of blood. Then he hops atop the Gameday desk, drops his pants, and smacks his arse a few times where a tattoo of the USC Trojans rest emblazed amid his red flesh. "Who loves USC baby! Who loves ya baby!!!"
USC is NOT better then AU, sorry, nor is USC better then LSU or possibly Florida. Look at the scores, they struggled to beat Arizona, a team LSU flat out pounded. Look the PAC - 10 is a very weak conference, WSU is horrible and USC had to tough out yet another win, I will give them credit they know how to win, they win ugly but they win. Yeh should Auburn have beaten LSU, well the refs made sure they did but there is 60 minutes to football. AU, LSU and UF from what I have seen by far are all top 5 teams. Ohio State is good, that I wont deny, really good. But USC is a top 10 team but #2 not even close, I would take AU, LSU and UF over USC every day of the week.
