The detractors will probably say, "Well, Randall looks very good against a SunBelt team."

Randall SHOULD be able to put up 35-0 against Arkansas State. It's Arkansas State.

Well, it looks like neither quarterback is "ready." My feeling out of it is this, however. If you are going to get freshman mistakes out of the QB position, at least have it come from a freshman!

If they are at the same level of performance (and that's being nice to Randall at this point), why not go with the guy who will be leading the team the next 3 years after this one? Why play the 5th year senior who's going to have to be replaced by an inexperienced QB next season? Give Russell the experience now, and next year he will set the world on fire. Play Randall this year, and have Russell make the first year mistakes next year. Take your pick.

After the 4th down play pass over Green's head, I knew the odds were that we'd lose. When you think about the long history of big wins in LSU football and the number of bigger losses the very next week, it almost seemed like a loss might be fate. Losing the opener after winning the national championship is kind of like LSU football in nutshell.

Billy Cannon's run and famous Halloween night, lose the next week @ Tennessee. Take down Spurrier's #1 Gators in Tiger Stadium, lose the next week, etc.

Hold on now, we've got Saban and all of those thoughts have been debunked. We can actually beat Bama at home. We win those games in the 4th qtr. We win pretty and sometimes ugly like Bama used to do. We can get two big wins in a row.

I agree with most of ramah's take and especially with SabanFan's bit about Randall being what he is. Randall has had quite a few good games and I know he's got the ability but it's the composure/intangibles that he lacks at times. Russell has the tremendous upside but has never played an SEC game on the road and looked really bad on a few plays. I think we'll need both QBs (and possibly Flynn) to win games this year. I don't think this will be the last game (not counting Ark St.) where we'll see more than one QB play. When Randall was last a starter, the backup with 'lil Claussen. Our trio of QBs will get the job done. The Auburn game is huge.
