I honestly dont see it. We have the potential and could be a very good D. As of now though its more potential than fruition. With the talent we have we need a bit more aggressive take. It will make up for the lack of a surge by the DL. I do like the potential of the D next year. The main thing is LSU needs to teach tackling. LSU doenst wrap worth a crap, especially the DL. They are the worst tackling group. Overall I think we will have a strong D, whether or not we get back to the upper eschelon remains to be seen.
i expect better things out of edwards, nevis, downs, agahyere, levingston, hicks, davenport and montgomery than this years group. #12 in scoring D (#6 in TDs)
Bama at #7? 7 starters graduate and 2 more are going pro - leaving only 2 starters. I don't see how they can start out as the 7th best defense without experience.
Im not trying to slam the D, they saved the season. They played very well at times. Overall though can you honestly tell me you think this was a dominant D? Numbers dont always tell the story. LSU had a good, solid D. Not quite the dominant D of the past, but still good. I too like the potential the aforementioned players. Id also add Clement, Claiborne, and Loston to that group. I really think the DL could return to dominance if the players mature a bit and are coached up a lil more. If Montgomery is as good as expected he will sure up the pass rush which was null this year.
