Just another example of how we're losing the economic impact of this game and the tax dollars by moving it out of state and not play it in a myriad of stadiums throughout this state. Tulane has no choice, but this game certainly had every opportunity to be played in Louisiana.
Look, all jokes aside, from what I understand, this game was about to be moved out of N.O. anyway. A lot of the fans from up here have been complaining about things in N.O. for the last few years. Hotel and motel owners in N.O. have been complaining about their rooms being destroyed by the parties. The paper up here had an article about N.O. wanting the game moved somewhere else. Houston has recieved most of the press when talking about a different location. Shreveport came right out and said that they did not want the game there. That's according to the News Star from last year.
Shreveport couldn't handle it. Period. Smart move not to make a play for it. You just gotta be in the Quarter during the Bayou Classic weekend to really get the feel. Done it twice, both by accident (call me stupid). Beyond your imigination. The drive over on I-10 from Houston on Friday before the game is something to behold. An absolute parade. Both schools have huge fan bases in Houston, graduates and former students. Gotta love the enthusiasm of the fans from both schools for this game. That said, I've heard and read all the complaints from the hotels, etc about property destruction, security problems, etc.. On the flip side, I've also read the complaints from the Classic-goers about price-gouging by the hotels for the weekend of the Classic. I doubt it's any worse than the N.O. hotels do on other "special occasion" weekends. Ever rented a room during Mardi Gras ? Maybe it belongs in Houston.
swac teams get killed everytime they play a damn slc team what makes u think they could win in the playoffs?
are some of you people really serious? How many of you have ever been to the classic? you are some of the most ignorant and arrogant people that i have ever read of. just accept the fact that gameday has decided to do something different for once. atleast one baton rouge team will be featured on gameday this year. just watch the show and maybe you can appreciate a traditional football game.
WOW!! Calling out everyone in this thread with your first post. I admire your courage. Welcome aboard.
First of all this is not a traditional football game. Both teams have a lot of talent, but I feel like I am watching a high school game every year. Everybody who goes to the game isn't going to watch football, they are watching the bands which are great but the actually gameplay and play calling has been average to say the least. A few friends go every year, but they could care less about the game. ITS ALL ABOUT THE BANDS AND THE PARTYING!
