Conservative vs. Liberal test

    Of course it wouldn't. And any penalty imposed with a broad, blind brush is invariably wrong (either too long or too short.) Plus, I'd like to leave some wiggle room in the sentencing in case I ever have to shoot somebody. :hihi::hihi:

    35..When I took it two years ago on this thread I was a 20...

    I would agree with this in that I am definitely becoming more conservative...

    It just depends how stiff the mandatory sentence would be. If the punishment were strict enough, even the dumbest of people would be deterred. If the mandatory sentence were free lollipops, there would be no deterrent. However, if everyone committing a crime with a gun were tortured and killed, certainly some people would think long and hard about robbing a bank.

    Thiefs/thugs don't care about dying. I don't think the death penalty or any other punishment short of torture, which will never happen, can truly deter them.
