With only 1 CB on the board right now (Mathieu), and one other possible (Vinson?), and the talk of limited schollies next year, what is our situation at CB if (when) PP leaves early after next year?

Returning CBs on roster next year:

    P. Peterson (Jr.)
    J. Eugene (Sr.)
    B. Taylor (Jr.)
    M. Claiborne (So.)

Claiborne isn't specifically listed as a CB on the official LSU roster, but he played there this year.

Lots of guys listed as DBs, but they all played S or NB, DB. None of them seem like CBs.

    So, after next year, it's:

    B. Taylor (Sr.)
    M. Claiborne (Jr.)
    T. Mathieu (So)
    R. Vinson ? (So)

    Who else?

Seems to me LSU needs another CB in 2010?

Tharold Simon is starting out at CB as well.

Vinson is all CB in this class.

Gibson will likely play S but could play a number of positions.

I believe Brooks will be playing more CB than S. LSU recruited Vinson for CB too, not Safety. Wouldn't surprise me to see someone like Fobbs(if we get him) moved to CB. I think LSU originally wanted him at CB and he didn't like that...so they changed their tune to WR after they saw him in person.

We're in a pretty good position right now with Jabriel Washington too, hes going to be one of the best CB prospects next year. We have a lot of athletes on the team, I'm sure some will convert to CB if we need that depth. Drayton Calhoun might be a candidate.

I thought about him, but he's 6-4, isn't he? That's one big azz CB...

Bandit, thanks for the analytical posts. They should generate some good, insightful discussion.

I can't wait and I hope it works out. Chavis told him he expects him to excel at the position.

Jhyryn is a WR now, Taylor and Hatcher see good playing time. Brooks is good, will push for PT. Not sure about St Julien. Can't remember anything about Bryant.

I'll believe that when I see it. He has to have some incredibly smooth hips/agility to play CB at that height. I think he ends up being a Safety for us or WR.

I have said the same but he confirmed for the 3rd time that the staff has told him he is coming in at corner and he hasn't expressed that he prefers one or the other.

    And he plays very smooth.
