As to the Title of the OP: the cost of war is the lives of those doing the fighting, both in terms of their own lost potential and the grief of their families. Everything else is temporary. And Rex: Freedom isn't Free. Just because it's a slogan, don't for a second discount the wisdom in it. Most countries don't enjoy the level of liberty American's do for one simple fact: it's difficult to maintain.
