i really like hester, but i wonder if the tigers lose something on the ground with him in as fb. id hope that the coaches play steltz for more than just seniority.
the fact of the matter is that it will be tough for hester to get a legit shot at the starting runningback spot because he is white... unless its boise st. or navy, a white guy really isnt looked at really hard for the hb spot... they are usually relegated to the fb position...
LOL, keepin the white man down.   Maybe he should transfer to BYU. That Luke Staley kid got all kinds of props there. Of course even they had the black mormon Mare that is now in the NFL. Us white boys don't have a chance. j/k of course :thumb:
Hester showed a lot of potential his first year here at LSU & many fans were expecting big things from him this season, but he never really impressed. His bowl game performance was very good, but as was already mentioned - his job was made considerably easier with the way our Oline was blocking.
I think he's best served as an "H-back"--capable of lining up in a slot some plays (he catches really well), lining up at FB and posing matchup problems as a receiving FB, and in possible short-yardage, line him up at running back with big Steve Korte a fullback.
I never really got too down on Hester during the season. He may not be the best receiver, but hell, our receivers weren't even catching balls. I've always felt pretty good about his running ability. I'm not sure he makes a good blocking back, but I think he could have a place at RB if Broussard isn't back to full strength. I like a big back, if for nothing more than change of pace, to pick up the tough yards, and to punish and wear down the defense. Maybe not as the number one, but as a piece of the puzzle. As far as his being white, LOL.
If Jackson has a torn ACL like reported and Broussard is behind schedule like reported, it looks like this might happen...
