Not true. They are ahead of us in the Harris poll, but we are ahead of them in the Coaches poll. Those are the two polls that matter. I'll be shocked (and pissed) if we drop after beating the 12 (Harris) or 13 (coaches) ranked team in Florida.
I think Notre Dame would pass us this week if they win, but if that's the case, we'd have to see where USC fell. In the human polls, they will probably be the second highest ranked 1-loss team (behind Notre Dame). In the computers, I think they fall way behind us. All that being said, the last time I participated in a thread speculating where we end up after a win was before the Tennessee game. So I really would prefer to wait until after the game to worry about this.
Assuming you think Texas takes over #1...there is no way a USC lose only drops them to #2. USC couldnt be ranked higher than a zero lose VT, FSU, or UGA team.
Would be quite interesting to see where they put USC after a loss to ND. It's a road loss, so that would be taken in consideration in determining how far down USC would go. If it's a close game and everyone else wins: 1 Texas 2 VTech 3 USC 4 ND 5 Georgia 6 FSU 7 Miami 8 Bama 9 LSU If LSU blew out Florida, then we would have a chance to pass up both Miami (at Temple) and Bama (at Ole Miss) in the polls, otherwise it would definitely be a #9 ranking My guess is that there would be reports of these pollster's heads exploding from having to decide who to put #3 in their polls (AP poll specifically). So I guess the morgues better get ready.
Sorry but there is a clause that states that USC and Notre Dame are exempt from such a ordering. I think it's the Irish-Trojan Circle Jerk rule....someone may want to correct me if I am wrong on the name.
The way i see it, eventually that *-0 record these teams have will start to have more effect on the polls. Early on, whats a 2-0? but a 6-0, 7-0 in BCS conferences? They will move past LSU... if not this week, then the next, should they continue to win. It wont be so much LSU dropping, as it will be LSU not rising as much as these teams.
Talkin' all this silly chit ... cuz Curley Miles couldn't go into halftime ahead 24-0 and hold on for a win against TN ... pathetic
21-0. You need to move on. That was 3 games ago. It's over. Done with. Finito. History. Bygone. Closed. Completed. Concluded. Ended. Finished. Past.
Seems like every time the Coaches Poll is talked about someone still has to slip in a comment about West Coast Bias or the"Media Love Affair" with the Trojans. Wake up, the Coaches Poll is not a media vote and if you think their is a West Coast bias amongst the Coaches who vote you're really grasping at straws.
