Could the last and final series at the Box get any better than this?

The only unfortunate thing was that Landry's plays overshadowed a couple of extremely athletic diving catches by Mitchell. They are going to make the highlight reel, too.

Absolutely agree, I was worried he might have gotten hurt on that catch in the 9th at the wall.

Mitchell and Landry may not make it in the majors, but it will not be because of their defensive play. You won't see catches any better than what we have seen from those 2 at any level.

What an unbelievable way to sent out the Box!!!

Largest crowd in Alex Box history!!!

I, for one, never even came close to imagining that we'd have something as unbelievable as a 21-7 finish with 7 home runs, including 3 back-to-back-to-back in the 1st (by Dean, Clark and Gibbs). The announcers said the LSU single-game HR record is 8, so it's nice seeing LSU fall just shy of that in their last game at the Box.

The most runs LSU has scored in a game this season is 22, when we beat Duquesne 22-11 (next best was the 16-4 win over Miss State).

Although I've seen plenty of great games by LSU sports teams in my life, this was probably the one that most exceeded all of my wildest expectations. I have honestly been wondering why I'm not seeing purple and gold fireworks line the horizon around my place tonight (like I see from my place during New Year's), and I've never thought about expecting that before what LSU did tonight.

Again, what a great way to send out the Box... especially since it means WE ARE GOING TO OMAHA!!!!!!!

    Monster performances tonight:

Blake Dean (Soph.), 5-5, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs

Ryan Schimpf (Soph.), 4-5, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 2 runs

Micah Gibbs (Freshman), 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 2 runs

    HRs: Schimpf (2), Dean (1), Gibbs (1), Clark (1), Dishon (1), Haydel (1).

As for Landry, hopefully his injury isn't too bad... good news was that he was shown walking around the dugout later in the game.

Landry should be fine....Thank God. I was worried that he might have broken something. He has a nice shiner though. He'll be back come Sunday.

No. In hindsight I liked the loss thrown in. That and the threat of elimination added tons more pressure and drama, kinda like adding a little too much red pepper to your crawish boil.

    See,.......no respect by the Tigers:D

Bet this last amazing series at the Alex Box will be in the ARCHIVES of LSU Baseball.

You had forgotten to figure out how the ERA of Stowell swelled to when he left the game:hihi:

You couldn't have said it any better:thumb: That made the victory a lot sweeter....eh...I mean spicier!
