1. I just wish the officials would try harder to get those damn cowbells out of Starkville and out of my life forever. They are about as cool as tuxedo t-shirts.

  3. No, but we are the only conference with Deafening crowds.

  4. I think this is also a rule that the NFL has. Technically, no player (or cheerleader) is allowed to wave his/her arms in a fashion that would indicate that they would like it to be louder. The stadiums also aren't allowed to show any kind of "noise meter" on the screen. I believe the team could be subject to fine for an infraction. Again, that's the NFL and that's according to WWL.

  5. I guess opposing teams are used to the quite at Ohio State. So now you want to make everyone as quiet as your stadium. :dis:
  6. In response to my above post, I did some research of the NFL rules but only turned up this:

Loss of team time out(s) or five-yard penalty on the defense for excessive crowd noise.

  7. I have been to a few games at the horse shoe and I have been in Tiger Stadium on Sat night and I can truly say the tOSU fans are nowere near as loud as Tiger fans. In Tiger Stadium you can feel the game in the shoe:thumb: you watch the came.
  8. That's right Big Ten fans, it's another conspiracy to give the SEC credit for being the toughest conferrence. It's just media hype and the tv broadcasts are doctored to make the crowds seem louder than they really are. And them darn analysts and broadcasters are simply toeing the company line when they break out the decibel meters and what not. Just another knock on the Big Ten, we all know that when their games are televised the engineers edit out crowd noise just to make SEC crowds just seem louder. Believe it. I'm sure the horseshoe gets loud occassionally and the big house may thunder but they don't on a consistent basis. All those people who have attended games in both conferrences and claim that SEC stadiums are noisier are just perpetuating the myth, right? I believe that officials should concentrate on making the calls and the rules that are in place to protect players from serious injury. Crowd noise rules were not enacted due to Big Ten crowds but were lobbied for by Big Ten schools after playing away games in the SEC(hehehe).
  9. I'm pretty sure that the FANS are NOT subject to the NCAA rules for a football game (aside from an idiot running onto the field or something). The band is part of the school (and therefore theoretically controllable), so that's why they would be subject to the rules.

On a side note, does anyone remember in 1989 when the NFL tried to penalize the home team for crowd noise? Needless to say, it was very short-lived.

Edit: Apparently people do remember it, because it was referenced 3 different times before my post :)
  10. I am hoping the original poster meant this as tongue-in-cheek.

Otherwise, go make your whine with sour grapes elsewhere...:thumb:
