Re: Miles not worth half of Saban's salary?

I like it that Miles must earn his raises through winning. Nick had the same arrangement here. He started at $1.2 million and earned his raises to $2.6 million.

You can't just pour money on a coach like that alone will guarrantee sucess. Skip knows his business. LSU has been competitive in coach hiring and coach salaries.

You must be mistaken, Red. I read somewhere that a school just poured $32 gabillion on a coach, and that he will win 7 NC's, and then retire, or is it, requit?

So how do you explain Brady getting a raise the season BEFORE the final four season? They sure as hell weren't winning.

The hell they weren't! Brady was posting winning seasons, going to the NCAA tournament every year, and recruiting very well. Brady was being courted by other schools, so he got a pay raise.

I'm pretty happy with Miles this year, but I'll feel a lot better when all of Satan's recruits have moved on and Les is STILL winning and our recruiting class is still in (or at least around) the Top 5 in the nation. At that point, give him gobs of cash and sign him for 10 years (which means he'll leave in two).

That said, being an LSU grad from R.I. - Go Pats and Go Saints! See y'all in Miami!

    LSU!

Let's not get crazy, Red.:hihi: His record, prior to last year, was like a yo-yo ... up and down. However, he was one of the lowest paid SEC coaches and needed a pay raise.

And you are right. Tying pay to specific goals is the way to go. Don't know if Brady's (and all the coaches) contract is structured that way, but it should.

Red you can be one of the most irrational posters on this board when you want to be, although often you do raise good points...not today. LVTGRFN well your comment is just commical. They were not making the NCAA tournament every year.

    2002- NIT
    2003- out 1st round NCAA
    2004- NIT
    2005- out 1st round NCAA

Re: Miles not worth half of Saban's salary?

    Opinions differ, chief.

Then let me rephrase, In the 21st century LSU has a winning record of 146-78 and has been to the NIT twice and the NCAA four times, including a sweet 16 and a final four. They have two SEC championships. Brady has sent 4 players to the NBA in that period including two first-round draft picks.

And yes, Brady has been courted by several other universities or don't you read the newspaper? North Carolina State was openly doing so and there were other contacts behind the scenes.
