I don't know about anyone else, but I think he knows his chances of getting another good job are limited and he is playing on Miles good side. He know Miles won't fire him, so he's going to ride the gravy train until the wheels fall off...

It's the part about Miles pressuring Crowton to withdraw his name from consideration the bothers me.

 

Lets hope it means that there is a better opportunity for him somewhere else!

It's only because of the timing and our bowl game, I bet he's still on it just not "formally".

Don't freak people, there are plenty of opportunities for GC to go to. As mentioned Miles doesn't want the distraction from the bowl game. He would not stop one of his assistants from getting the opportunity of a HC gig.
