I repeat, power football devastates the opponent in a 4 quarter game. In that second half they began to suck air, put their hands on their hips, soon they just want to get out of the way. The scores of games often reflect attrition, pain, that overwhelming feeling, it just ain't worth it. LSU is no longer running the spread. Crowton is gone. Les is playing power football. The style of football is designed to make you quit. I would have thought you would know that by now.

Great defense beats great offense. That should explain why Arkansas wasn't playing Oregon Jan. 9th.

Anybody is in a position to demand. Anybody. Its the getting thats another matter.

I don't want to go down this road any further, because it can't be done without bashing Les, and I dont have a want to go there.

But I stand by my comment; Les can NEVER have another game like that.

I got it the first time.

You said the Tigernation is failing to consider that the reason for the debacle is because of the Bama had a "brick wall" for the ages.

I'm saying Georgia must have the same damn "brick wall" given what they did to the LSU offense for 30 min.

Lots of brick walls for the ages around out there I guess.

Course, Georgia Southern didn't have too much trouble with the "brick wall."

I understand what you are saying. I disagree and favor the "LSU has issues" explanation.

Tusk you under value the real cost of Nov 5 to LSU IMO. While your argument that it hurt UA in poll points may be accurate it ignores the rematch motivation factor once the poll results were in.

What ever the apparent stakes of the BCSNCG, the results of Nov 5 cost LSU in motivation potential. Alabama was playing with house money, had revenge on their minds and all the incentive. LSU had already beaten you and in a sense had nothing to gain. We had already beaten you. I have to believe it had effect on the preparation of both teams and even on the play on the field. This CANNOT be ignored or minimized as so much of the college game is indexed on emootion.

Did Macelwane come up with a great game plan? It looked good, but scored 21 points with LSU having no O at all. Had our O even played to Nov 5 standards it may have been another 9-6 game.

Your D hit us in the mouth granted and deserves credit. However one play somewhere had the potential to change the game up till TR finally scored with what 4 minutes left.

Is UAT one of the 2 best teams of 2011? Yes but don't fool yourself that natural dominance reappeared Jan 9. The combination of UAT's good fortune and a less than stellar effort from LSU gave your team the game. After all we have won 2 out of the ;ast 3 games and own your butt in the 2000s. See you in Nov! :geaux:

That's an ignorant statement. We had a damn National Championship and undefeated season to gain. We were flat and uninspired. JL never played. It's over.

"We were flat and uninspired...... It's over."

I agree we were flat and uninspired. That we had already beaten UAT was a factor in the equation is indisputable. It came out in the pregame statements of the players. You could see it in their faces. We would hope the she BCSNCG was enough but it wasn't IMO.age of tt

To clarify: When I say Les can never have another game like that, I do not mean he can never lose in a blowout again. I do not mean he can never lose in the NCG again.

I mean he can never have another game where LSU has the NC on the line (so could be regular season or SEC championship, not just a NCG), is loaded with talent and has expectations so high that CF fans nationwide and national media have focused on them for months....and then they go out and play like they did on Jan 9th.

Is that a high standard? Yes. But when LSU has the kind of talent they had this year, Jan 9th was unacceptable. The Tiger talent is in part due to Les, but LSU is LSU and its not just Les that makes talent come here.

And you know what? If LSU had done what they should have done then

    1. Les would be widely acknowledged as THE genius of college football--and possibly on his way to the NFL.

    2. Saban would have lost 3 in a row to Les.

    3. The Bama nation would be roiled with complaints about Saban as a coach.

I cannot imagine an honest scenario involving Alabama's football program where that is even possible. It's good to be the hunter, but nobody was playing with house money. The national championship was at stake and these kids had over a month to dream about the possibilities. As much as fans wave the crystal icon in all these threads, these players have a much more keen sense of what they are playing for. I believe that a national championship game is more than enough reason to play as well as humanly possible.

Still trying to understand how LSU "just didn't have anything to gain." Sounds like Richard Lewis in that snicker commercial: I'm just not feeling the wood cutting thing today."
