Damn, we have another committment Steven Korte gave his verbal pledge from Mandeville today. Korte is the son of former New Orleans Saints OL Steve Korte. He played as a power tailback last season and was also a good receiver out of the backfield. Korte transferred to FHS from St. Paul's for his junior season, specifically to play offense. He had been a linebacker at SPS and will be moved back to defense at LSU. Given that his dad is a large man, the younger Korte may not be done growing. Although he's got good linebacker size now at 6-2, 225, he could grow into a right side defensive end. Korte was a second-team all-district choice after his junior season when he shared the workload with Christian Ducre, a speed tailback who is also drawing college interest. Ducre was at Alabama for their junior day recently. per T.R.
If Korte and Keys do commit, then that will be #6 and #7 for LSU in 2004. Korte is the #2 fullback in the nation according to Emfinger and a top 100 player in the nation as well. Keys is the #2 rated strong safety in the nation( top 100 also), the #1 strong safety is Clarence Ward ( Also a LSU commitment). Also look who the #3 strong safety has as one of his favorites. With Chris Hawkins playing either cornerback or safety, we will have a top 5 defensive back class in the nation (assuming they all sign) and it's only March http://www.maxemfingerrecruiting.com/articles/2003jrrank.shtml
Wow, how is this happeneing so early? How come dandy has him at #65 top in state prospect?? Maybe he doesn't know anything. Keys commited today per tigerbait, but can anyone confirm Korte's commit? He does not even exist on t.r., but their insiders website is marginal at best.
The Insiders site will hopefully get better since they have seen the need to upgrade it and have brought back someone who use to be in charge of recruiting. And they are much better than Dany Don except in one phase, and that is that Dandy Don gets Emails from all over so he does break news faster than others at times and much of it can be erroneous but I love the guy. And I wouldn't put much stock in his rankings either except for some of the very top players that he gets info on from several sources. Remeber, most of his "sources" are Tiger Rag, Rivals, The Advocate, T.P. and LSUsports.net. He's always posting reports from these sources.
Only 11 yards per carry? For a fullback? Wow!! Who cares how this guy is ranked by DD or Insiders? I don't think we have to worry about Nick & Co. giving scholarship offers in March to marginal players. The guys who are getting offers now are on the top of our list--and many of them seem to be accepting those offers almost immediately. I have been following LSU recruiting for years, and I can't remember having more than one or two commitments at this time of year.
Dandy will probably be moving him up the list, but "not because he committed to LSU, but because he deserves to be there." Ofcourse he has improved quite a bit over the past two weeks since Dandy did the initial list.
Out of curiosity, how did he improve 'quite a bit' when football hasn't been played for a couple of months now? Are they tracking spring workouts or something?
I'm just poking fun at Dandy, who after Chris Hawkins committed decided to move him up several spots in his top of louisiana list.
