I DOUBT he has a problem with Miles. After all, it was Miles that gave him his first gig as a coach at a BCS school (even though it was Oklahoma State) and it was Miles that convienced him to come back to LSU...
id guess with the volatility and availability of HC jobs currently in the NFL and being a minority candidate could be a big part. Its purely my own speculation but it seems like the smart thing to do if I was him. if i ever had a desire to be a HC at the highest level, that is, which you can assume he does...hes gotta start now and work his way up.
This timing isn't due to him. As of right now, these are just rumors. He had nothing to do with when or how they came out. But sometime soon, he'll have to confront them.
This one hurts big time. Not only is he a good coach, but he is a leader for the whole team. One thing I always notice is him pumping guys up on the sidelines. Not just d linemen, the entire team. With what we are losing on the defensive line it sure would be nice to have him back.
Well, I never stopped to think that it was reported as JUST a rumor....I took it as "late-breaking news: Karl Dunbar leaves".... I hope you're right, CParso....and that it's just rumored that there is interest in Dunbar...
well...it's not exactly on ESPN, cnnsi, lsusports.net or the Vikings website yet... So it COULD be "rumor"...

Don't gloss over the fact that he went from an NFL DL coach to an LSU DL coach...back to an NFL DL coach, all in the span of 12 months. Perhaps he had a Clyde Drexler-like revelation that coaching at one's alma mater wasn't all that and a bag of chips. Perhaps he's butted heads with his superiors at LSU...but I'll go with the former: he thought it'd be cool to try his hand as a college coach and realized he made a mistake. Being a DL coach for Coach Childress instead of one for Coach Smith is a lateral move at best, IMO.
