So now that Daniels is coming back what happens to the QB room?

Do we have a truly "open" competition? What happens to the others? One is sure to hit the portal, do we want that to be Nuss?

At least see what he can do. I don't think he (Howard) wants to leave I think the question is will he have no choice. This is 100% on Kelly to make him understand that his time is coming. Nuss on the other hand is running out of time so I'd assume he will be in the portal before it's over.

Personally, I think he's the key reason we were so successful this season. He struggled throwing sometimes, but he more than made up for it with his running and some huge throws in some big games. That run against Alabama in OT and then to roll out and throw a perfect pass to true freshman tight end for the win, with the entire college football world watching, is big time. IMO, without him, we're probably 6-6 at best.

Agreed, we would not have accomplished what we did without him. Nuss wasn't the answer this year and may never be. Great talent but is still too interception prone. JD will come back in better shape, stronger and coached up some more. If Nuss or Howard beats him out so be it but I would be shocked.

I agree. JD is definitely the starter right now, but if Howard beats him out, then it is what it is. IMO, I think sitting behind JD one more year is only going to make Howard a better QB down the road. Too many people want to throw a young QB in and it does more harm than good. As for Nuss, he clearly has a cannon of an arm, but is too much of a gunslinger for my liking. He still thinks he's in HS, but in college the window shrinks and you can't make those same throws against elite talent. I see him moving on before next season.

Well obviously, the question isn't who is going to be QB, it's how do you keep the room together.
