I don't know about his needing another year in the
NFL to secure pension. Heck, he's already got 16 years.
I would imagine that he's vested with that.
Looking at his bio, I was suprised by the College
coaching experience he has - 17 years total, and the
last two with Miami as secondary coach.

I would be VERY happy if he came to LSU !!!

I want to be the first to welcome Coach Campeaux to LSU!

I hope he decides to come with us.

More news about Campo From Jacksonville paper

I wouldn't count on him just yet, that assistant HC title is going to put him in a pretty high salary range that we cannot match I bet.

DC may not need the money, and at his age, he may look to do what he enjoys most in the final years of his career. Being DC at LSU could be the ticket, if he enjoys developing young men and its important in his life. He could make a lifestyle decision instead of a career decision.

I hope we get him, Arnsbarger didn't do too bad by LSU for a "mature" defensive coordinator from the fins.

I listen to John McClain here in Houston and he has my respect. He is sometimes very blunt, but not without reason. I like him more than anyone I see on TV a lot.

Arnsparger didn't come to LSU as a DC though.

I agree, but wasn't part of the reason Del Rio was looking at us that they didn't pay much. You never know what they are going to pay him.

IF Campo is named DC for the Tigers, it will be a great hire. As I posted several weeks back, we here in Dallas saw the guy do wonders with the Cowboys defense even as Jerry was spending all of the $$ on the offensive side. I think he was a little overwhelmed as Head Coach (plus his GM was JJ), but he was a great DC here. I am sure he will do as good a job as Mus/Sab.

If not Campo, then whom? I am concerned on a couple of fronts. First, we have been short handed in recruiting because of the delay, and secondly who out there is left that is worth having? So far Campo is the only name that excites me at all.

I'm impressed that it's John McClain saying it. As noted earlier on this thread, he is a very highly regarded NFL media member, and is right way more often than not.

For comparisons sake, for those of you in Louisiana that hear Mike Dutillier (spelling?), McClain is like a more plugged in version of him.

Hope the rumor is true, I think Campo would be an incredibly good addition.
