1. Don't want to say, I may get banned over there for posting stuff here :|
  2. I emailed the author last night asking him a little more about the situation and whether he had more recent sources, explaining that Campo's name came up early on/possible pension issues etc. Most writers will answer an email like that, but as of now, I've gotten no response.
  3. Some more on this situation. I was browsing the droppings forum, and a poster had this to say:

I asked him to clear up if he had actually spoken to the Houston Chronicle author personally (as there has been no confirmation about where/when McClain got this info):

I checked his profile before I posted a question to him, and he lists himself as retired. Usually BS'ers aren't retirees..but with the internet you never know. His posts are subdued as most factual ones are..but again, nothing on the internet is for sure. If the author of that post posts here, please identify yourself :) Thanks for the info one way or another.

  4. McClain answers his email, but keep in mind that this is Super Bowl week, so his week is pretty full.

No, I'm not his personal assistant or anything but McClain is a regular on Houston sports radio and tv. He's on air pretty frequently, so there may be a better chance of someone calling in and asking the question before he gets back to your email this week.

I'll try and get though if he's on this afternoon (usually comes on Monday mornings, but his schedule may be different this week).
  5. Thank you, let us know how it turns out.
  6. Good research Philter! Way to check the credentials of these mysterious Internet posters! Oh...wait a minute...
  7. Campo would be a good hire as long as Les doesn't allow him to hold press conferences. As Cowboys HC he worked in the word "obviously" about 112 % more often than is allowed by Federal statute. The typical Campo statement at the beginning of a postgame press conference:

"Obviously we would have liked to have had more than three first downs at halftime"

"Obviously we would have liked to get Emmitt some running room"

"Obviously we would have liked for someone to block for Troy"

"Obviously we would have liked to score more than 3 points this afternoon."

"Obviously we would have liked for our defense to tackle somebody"

Obviously Chan Gailey was a much better head coach than Dave Campo.
  8. Dandy Don has written on his site that Campo is a done deal. He said it had been announced. Is this right?
  9. Before you beat up on his head coaching experience, remember they guy does have 3 super bowl rings, all of them as a D coordinator if I am correct, can any local (Dallas) people confirm he was the DC of the cowboys in the glory days. I think he was but I am not a big cowboy fan (Geaux Stars)
