I think most would love to have Will Muschamp back, and his opponent's 3rd down conversion rate isn't anything for him to brag about: Will Muschamp Auburn, 2006 - 38.55 (#55) Auburn, 2007 - 36.55 (#41) Texas, 2008 - 35.09 (#30) Clemson 2006 - 36.32 (#46) 2007 - 36.04 (#36) 2008 - 37.77 (#56) Tenn 2006 - 41.18 (#86) 2007 - 40.38 (#71) 2008 - 37.10 (#49)
what......but......oh hell, Muschamp sucks too!!!!! You can pick apart just about any D and find a weakness, over all D and scoring D are what really matters. I could care less if teams convert on 99% of their 3rd downs against us if they never score.
not sure what the hell Luke was alluding to. thanks for the backup bro He did manage to use farcical correctly in a sentence....all is not lost
The third down conversion ranking can be a bit misleading depending on how many turnovers are factored in and how many third downs actually come up.
here's two of them http://www.cfbstats.com/2008/national/index.html http://www.ncaa.org/stats/football/footballMenu.html
Still, first and second down conversions being factored in can mislead as with LSU this year. Despite having a decent 3rd down conv. rate our D was pretty weak and gave up alot of big plays. My point is I think turnover rate and overall defense are more important stats...
