We are on different sides of many arguments but we are in 100% agreement on this my friend. And I have to say, I've never been able to understand the flip side either. If life is sacrid enough to make capitol punishment wrong - then how can abortion in the last weeks of pregnacy be right.
I could not agree more. Back in the day, the gas chamber was considered a more humane method of execution then the electric chair, but the gas chamber is a horrible, morbid way to die. It might not be bloody when botched, like the electric chair, but it's probably more painful. I wish that was still the preferred method of execution. The electric chair had the intimidation factor to go along with it, but truth be told, it's probably the least painful of all besides lethal injection. I was reading somewhere online about these people that contend that lethal injection is not at all painless. Of the 3 drug cocktail administered, they say that the third drug given, potassium chloride, causes an excruciating burning sensation as it circulates through the blood. However, because the 2nd drug, pancuronium bromide, paralyzes the condemned, they are unable to scream out or let anyone know about the pain. This is complete non-sense, as they're all out like lights when the sodium pentathol (or whatever it is that they use now) is administered. They don't feel anything. And even if they did, boo-freakin'-hoo! They're still getting off a lot easier then their victims did. Not too many people are anti-capital punishment and pro-choice. That's a really mixed up cat and I'd love to hear them explain that. I could be wrong, but it's usually the other way around (pro-life, pro-death penalty)? Still, I thought Shane provided a damn good explanation of that conundrum in post 42.
Yeah, alot of people are. I was referring to someone who was anti-death penalty and pro abortion. I don't get that at all.
I don't think it's that rare. I think that would be the general positions of the social policy Liberals, or Positively Progressives or whatever they call themselves now. I think they would generally say (a)we shouldn't kill people because they made a mistake, and (b)we shouldn't tell a woman what to do with her body.
