One day when the Buddha was carrying his robes and bowl, he went along the road to where Angulimala, a bandit and murderer, was staying. Angulimala the bandit saw the Buddha coming from afar and determined in his mind to pursue the contemplative and kill him. So he stopped and called out to the Buddha, "Stop, contemplative! Stop!" Still walking, the Buddha called back "I have stopped, Angulimala. You stop." Bewildered by this, Angulimala decided to question the contemplative: "While walking, contemplative, you say, 'I have stopped.' But when I have stopped you say I haven't. I ask you the meaning of this: How have you stopped? How haven't I?" The Buddha: "I have stopped, once & for all, having cast off violence toward all living beings. You, though, are unrestrained toward beings. That's how I've stopped and you haven't." Angulimala: "At long last a greatly revered great seer for my sake has come to the great forest. Having heard your verse in line with the Dhamma, I will go about having abandoned evil." So saying, the bandit hurled his sword & weapons over a cliff into a chasm, a pit. Then the bandit paid homage to the feet of the One Well-gone, and right there requested the righteous path. The Buddha, the Awakened One, the compassionate great seer, the teacher of the world, said to him then: "Come, priest." That in itself was priesthood for Angulimala.
That's a cool story there duck. Now what do you think should happen to child rapist? Does it matter if they are a fondler or if they actually raped a child? Can a child molester be cured? At what point is the death penality ok to use as a punishment or is it not ever to be used? We want to know what you think not what a story says.
I, for one, am ok with letting this thread die. It makes me sick every time there's a new post and I have to read the words 'child rape'.
Any type of violent crime towards children, whether it be rape, molesting, kidnapping/murder... Should render without a doubt the most severe of consequences, and those consequences should be carried out immediately, preferably hung for all to see publicly, including nationally televised syndication. As for the other argument in this thread about abortion, at no time other than cases of rape, incest and severely deformed/medical reasons/dangers to the mothers life... should an unborn fetus be aborted. Abortion has become a type of birth control for those who can't keep their legs shut, and the fact is there's too many couples out there who can not have children of their own, and would do anything for the opportunity to raise and love those unwanted babies. Fact is if those who are screwing can not take the responsibility of their actions, those who abort for selfish reasons should be jailed until their fixed, and can not have more kids.
At the core of all men is the spark of life, which is God. Pure and unalterable. Evil, is found only in the mind of man. The mind justifies it's every decision, spinning a rational for every evil action. This thinker is the root of evil. A flash of realization, an epiphany, can incinerate this thinker's tangled mass of thought. Thus, breaking the repeating cycle of evilness. A person can be reborn, and retake the righteous path. The executioner's action, is also evilness, justified by the mind. The mind can rationalize abortion, justify murder, and sanctify war. The mind is crazy. It is God's place to give and take life, not the mind's. My "opinion" cannot be trusted. I've mostly restated, basic Hindu philosophy Read what Tirk wrote, both times
I'm ok with letting this thread die. I get sick to my stomach every time there's a new post and I have to see 'child rape' in bold type.
I'm not trying to run him off, he actually has some good football talk to contribute, just letting him know he doesn't have to open the thread.
