Edwards has the physical ability, but doesn't care enough about football. I hope he isn't a part of this class. He doesn't have a commitable offer right now, and neither does PJ Smith or Jerico Nelson. Khiry Cooper might, but I don't know. Thomas & LSU are going different ways - it appears we don't see him as a QB. We can drop Scott off this list. I don't think he'll even visit us. 0% chance. I wouldn't be suprised if we got one of the others, but not sure who it would be, and it won't be more than one.
If we do get one I think it would be Bryant. Which Id be very happy with because we need CBs. Id be most happy with Brown, LB is a much greater need right now, but I dont see that happening. Patchan would be a great get as well, but he will be hard to steal from the U. Despite his dislike for their competitiveness.
That is only about 6 so we will need around 2 more. Either they come from the aforementioned 3 star players that most are not thrilled about or we have some surprises. We have had a lot of surprises so far, so I think the out of state commits that are off the radar continue.
i'm hearing rumblings that Baker H.S. grad and current Pearl River C.C. student, Brian Coulter, will be an LSU Tiger come January. He's a defensive end who is currently committed to Florida State. He went to C.C. with Demetrius Byrd.
LSU has got 2 Texas A&M commits that are coming in on official visits, a University of Texas OLine commit that we have continued to talk to, what seems to be almost all of Miami's commitments considering us, and a Florida St commit or two... There's no doubt about it, there will be some suprises leading up to & on signing day.
Deangelo Benton, Tyler Edwards, Chris Tolliver will take up 3 of the spots. Then we'll probably take 1 or 2 more Louisiana 3 star type guys (Lavar Edwards, Khiry Cooper) If the class finished out with just that, we'd finish ranked around 10th. The rest of the class, 3 or 4 spots, will be the suprises. We'll win some of the close battles & lose some others. TJ Bryant, Arthur Brown, Patrick Johnson, Matt Patchan, and a host of other guys I can't think of off the top of my head. As long as we win a few of the battles (as I expect), these last few spots should be enough to boost our ranking to around 5th.
I think the absolute best we can hope for realistically is about 8th. We are probably going to end up between 11th - 13th. I don't think we will pass any of the current top 10: 1. Notre Dame 2. Georgia 3. Alabama 4. Florida State 5. UCLA 6. USC 7. Miami-FL 8. Ohio State 9. Oklahoma 10. Texas and Florida still lurks just behind us and Michigan is just ahead of us. Therefore maybe 11th, 13th at the worst. Will be a really strong class however. Nothing to be ashamed of.
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=52504 He was real good in hs maybe the lack of success is making him rethink or the ability of his family to see him play changed his mind but during hs he was real excited about FSU. He was a DE/OLB in hs that could drop into coverage. Here is the last article rivals had on him. October 23, 2007 Will Brian Coulter return to Florida State? One of those hits was the loss of former junior college All-American DE Brian Coulter. Since coming up a few classes short of being able to enroll at FSU, LSU, the school that originally recruited him out of high school, has come on strong. Find out if Coulter still plans to return to FSU and when that might take place.
I sure hope we don't lose out on Brown, Patcham and TJ Bryant. I realize our chances of landing all three are slim, but getting at least one would really improve our recruiting class. This class could be really really strong, or (if we swing and miss on 3-4 recruits) it could turn out to be average. :geaux:
