I am certainly no weather-man, but I follow ALL storms VERY closely, because it interests me greatly!

And I must say that I think in the last 30-45 mins, the eye-wall of the storm has closed in a bit... and it has hit a cold water ridge for about 20-25 miles...

So I do hope that this means a little weakening... or at least keeping it how it is...

This is not a professional opinion... just an amateur eye.

Actually, I was SUPPOSED to be starting a new job on monday. Its looking like that may be delayed a little. We are certainly prepared, lots of food, ice, water, and a couple of generators. Im staying in my parents brick home, which is in a pretty high area, so we wont have to worry about flooding or storm surge. My main concern is the uprooting of trees, since there are a lot of those around. All the trees around us are pretty sturdy oaks, but this looks to be the highest sustained winds they have had to endure. Im too young to remember Frederic, but I have heard all the stories, and this has the potential of being worse. Ill keep you guys updated for as long as I have internet. Im going to go get some sleep now, tomorrow will be a long day.

I do hate you but I don't want to see you hurt :hihi: (just kidding)

Yeah it looks like we will get a blow all the way up in Noth Alabama but mostly in the Eastern part. Looks it is going right over Tuscaloosa so the bammers may get a tide although not a crimson one.

Grant it Hurricanes can be dangerous. But I love the over reaction of the news broadcast. It's a hurricane not a nuclear war.

Have you ever been through one on the coast?

If so, then you know why the news puts so much coverage on it...

Being through one when ti is just out the water, and being in one when it is 100-120 miles out of water are two TOTALLY different stories.

Agree in a small way. WWL Radio was going ridiculously nuts yesterday when IMO it was apparent that the Hurricane wasn't going to us.

Then again, if I was in charge of New Orleans and/or I had a voice that talked to thousands in the city, it may be different as I would feel quite guilty if I said it wasn't coming and it did in fact come
