What is disturbing about it .... is that somebody ... don't know who .. but somebody made the decision to elevate the two freshman QBs above the two older pro-style QBs, .. who left. I have a hunch that that somebody was CLM, based on his comment about the future of college football is the running QB. If we are handicapped at QB, it was due to Coaching decisions to elevate handicapped QBs to the top of the list over the more senior pro-style QBs. IF they [Harris and Jennings] weren't ready for prime time, the coaches should have invested more in Reddig or Rivers as the starter to allow for further development. This all comes down on the coaches ... IMO.
You talk about Rivers & Rettig like they were the second coming of Mett or Payton Manning. They weren't!! Both are sitting on the bench at weaker schools. They were not any good here or there. Based on your comment above about allowing for further development of Jennings and Harris, what Cam & Les did was the best. It gave both Jennings and Harris more reps to improve rather than sitting behind 2 QBs without prospect and taking fewer. Are Les and Cam ultimately responsible for the development or lack there of at QB? Yes they are! However making something up out of whole cloth as you did (that Rivers &/or Rettig were realistic alternatives) isn't borne out by the evidence.
Rettig is sitting on the bench at Rutgers because as a transfer he is ineligible to play at any D1 level school this year
