I played ball at SLU in the mid-90's, and got to play a few games at The Box. For any team to come in and beat the Tigers is hard enough in that environment, let alone the intensity of a make or break game in the regionals! So hats off to Rice. Those guys payed their asses off to come out on top of a well played game by both teams. And for Determan-that guy will never have to worry about anyone questioning his intestinal fortitude! Hope he comes back for another season!
Case in point: Ben Sheets is 1-5 with his only win coming on opening day. His ERA is nearly 4.00. Through 5 tonight he's held the Yankees to no runs on 2 hits.
