I agree with TE in that the author of the article should have just shut up. Whatever a 18 year old says is not newsworthy.

That article was not at all helpful, and was better left unwritten.

the more you kick a dead horse the more it smells. let him smack talk, you never know he might back it up. it's not bragging if you can back it up. If he can't Im sure he will shut up soon enough. Case closed.

I was at the Mississippi State game when RP was there, but do yall remember the student section chanting "Perrilloux, Perrilloux, Perrilloux"? Matt Deville and all of the sports writers and media sit right under the student section. Maybe I didn't hear it because I was way up in the 300 level, but I'm just curious.

Schreiber is a defensive end/linebacker combination player who could see his first action as a stand-up end, or as a pass-rushing specialist. Schreiber was a very productive player in high school, and is very instinctive.

    Let me get this straight....

A guy who writes for a magazine about LSU sports is getting criticized for writing about the behavior/comments of the biggest recruit in the school's most popular sport?

Like it or not, the Perrilloux comments are newsworthy. Just because it doesn't put a shiny glimmer on LSU's image doesn't mean Baton Rouge media should ignore it. If the story had no news value, the Athletic Dept. wouldn't have thought it necessary to try to spin the statements.

If anything, someone who writes for an LSU magazine should be applauded for the ability to call a spade a spade and write about something negative concerning LSU.

There's nothing more public in the state of Louisiana than LSU football. Therefore, RP is a public figure. He is fair game.

It's a story. It sells. Don't blame magazines and newspapers for giving the public what it clearly wants.

And for what it's worth, publishing this story doesn't hurt RP any further than his mouth already has. LSU athletes make up a very small circle of people where word travels very fast. Even if Deville never wrote this, come August (if not currently) everyone on the team would've known about those comments and treated RP accordingly in practice and the lockerroom.

    1. The article had to written due to all of the press his quotes and mis-quotes had received.

    2. Those of believe his comments are not harmful to him, the team and the university have their head in the sand.

    3. He would learn to keep his trap shut becuase someone on the team knocks the crap out of him. More likely he'll learn if he does get mentoring from one or more highly respected players, like fanatic posted.

    4. Backing it up doesn't mean it's ok to say negative and/or inflammatory remarks about your teammates or your opponents.

    5.
Because anyone who brings this kind of unwanted attention to himself, his family and his school shoud be called out for it and everyone who can get this kids ear, and Deville can get it, should let him know that his comments are not appropriate and will not be dismissed due to his youth. He needs to learn these leassons right now so that maybe he can learn to keep his trap shut in the future. I personally appluad that Deville wrote the article.

Hell, let him say what he wants. It helps the sports writers keep a job. Also, things around here are a little more interesting. Geaux Perrilloux! :geauxtige :) :thumb:

You really should seek counseling to help you get over your obsession with me.
