did anyone else watch the jack johnson pbs special?

    it's so funny how different times are now. i just watched this show and really had no idea about who jack johnson was. but it is so much how times have changed. anyone else have comments on this? i mean this was a great athlete in an unusual time.

    This isn't directed at you but I think it illustrates how history is purposely not encouraged/taught today so that our youth can be used and manipulated. i.e. Vietnam War = Iraq War.
    There's an old saying, if you don't know history you're doomed to repeat it.

    I'm sure this isn't what you were looking for but you asked for comments.

    I think most boxing fans have heard of Jack Johnson, but his story is unfamiliar. It really wasn't until the Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis era that boxing really caught on with the new radio and newsreel audiences.

    Didn't watch it last night. It was on opposite Las Vegas :grin: and CSI Miami. I will watch it tonight, it is on again on PBS.

    This isn't the boxer that they made a movie about set to release this year. It is set during the depression of the '30s and it is played by Russell Crowe. It looks to be a really good movie.
